简介：　　1 许渊冲翻译毛主席诗词 　　大翻译家翻译的毛泽东诗词ZT 　　细刻精雕 丝缕毕现 　　——评许渊冲教授新译《毛译东诗词选》的修辞美 　　作为中国译坛上璀灿群星之一的许渊冲先生，虽说年过古稀，著述等身，闻名遐尔，却是老骥伏枥，笔耕不止。不久前问世的《毛泽东诗词选》英译本就是其力作之一。笔者案头一卷，反复吟哦，越读越觉译笔优美韵味无穷。先生理解原作，精深独到，加之又熟谙中英诗律，细刻精雕，得心应手，将原作的妙处表达得淋漓尽致，成功地再现原诗的意境。 　　诗词的灵魂是意境。故近代学者王国维在《人间词话》中指出："言气质，言神韵，不如言境界，本也。气质，神韵末也。有境界而二者随之矣。”毛泽东诗词既有实境，也有虚境；既有实在美，又有空灵美，绝大多数则是二者的和谐统一，具有独特的审美价值。开门见山气势磅礴，借景抒情，情景交融；虚实相映，以臻完善，修辞巧妙，浑然天成，是其内在的特点。许教授的新译本最大特点就是成功地保持了诗人原作上述特点，再现了原诗的优美意境。 　　那么，译者是怎样宏观着眼，微观把笔从修辞上再现原作深远旨意和开阔境界的呢，概括起来有三点： 　　一、 选词精当求音美 　　中国诗人作诗填词是十分讲究如精炼准确的，“推敲”一词的来历就是这个含义。“红杏枝头春意闹”及“云破月来花弄影”中的“闹”"弄“二字的选用更是千古佳话。而英语中也有头韵、衬韵，音节长短、响亮之分。如William Blake的诗“The Tiger”首章就是一例： 　　Tiger, Tiger, burning bright 　　In the forests of night, 　　What immortal hand or eye 　　Could frame thy fearful symmetry. 　　美国的儿歌中亦有这样的例子： 　　Star light, star bright, 　　The first star I see tonight. 　　苏曼殊大师在翻译屈原“离骚”中名句“路漫漫其修远兮，吾将上下而求索”也是采用此手法： 　　The journey is long, 　　I‘ll search up and down. 　　许译文中这种手法频频运用，且看《如梦令·元旦》中最后一句的译文： 　　Below, 　　Below, 　　The winds unrolls 　　Red flags like scrolls. 　　原文：山下山下，风展红旗如画。 　　这样的译文真可谓绘色绘声。 　　另一例可见《菩萨·大柏地》首句译文： 　　Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet 　　Who‘s dancing with a colored band in the sky fire-lit? 　　原文：赤橙黄绿青蓝紫，谁持彩练当空舞？ 　　这种加衬一字的画龙点睛之笔非对source language 及 target language 驾驭娴熟不可为之，寥寥“fire-lit”一词不仅使诗意更浓，吟诵起来琅琅上口，铿铿锵锵，而且使原诗绚烂轻盈的意境顿时重现出来，真是佳趣横生，妙不可言。 　　类似的例子还有不少，如《清平乐·六盘山》首句： 　　The sky is high, the clouds are light, 　　The wild geese flying south out of sight. 　　原文：天高云淡，望断南飞雁。 　　在一个十六个词的译句中，带[ai]音的词就多达六个，且在句中安排得十分有节奏感。节奏、音韵和诗体这是诗律学研究的三个范畴。节奏的量变包括音长、音强、音高三要素，许教授选择这样一级响亮高亢，但又不长的英文词来译无疑是十分理想的。 　　《沁园春·雪》为毛诗中力作，“山舞银蛇，原驰蜡象，欲与到公试比高。”更是脍灸人口的美喻佳句，许先生在翻译这句诗上也是煞费苦心，匠心独运的，且看： 　　Mountains lide silver serpents dancing, 　　Highlands like waxy elephants advancing, 　　All try to match the sky in height. 　　先说选词，用mountain比hill准确贴切原文，才能形成气势；dance与advance搭配，不仅音韵上美，而且用advance来描述象的运用更为贴切。其次，句势整齐；至于由暗喻转明喻无伤大雅。 　　二、 造句工整求形美 　　许先生在其译序中开宗明义，就引用了一位外国作家关于界定诗与散文的精辟言论： 　　"Prose is words in the best order: poetry is the best words in best order."许先生译成：散文是井然有序的文字；诗是井然有序的绝妙好词。 　　由此可见选词造句在写作与翻译中是何等的重要，在此，许先生是将其奉若圭臬的。他十分讲究译文与原作在句势上的对等，下面是一些对等直译的佳例： 　　The wind rises o‘er islets green, ‘mid waves it drops, 　　The rain from verdurous fields comes up to mountain tops.七律《和周世钊同志》：风起绿洲吹浪去，雨从青野上山来。 　　Riding the earth, one goes eight myriad li a day; 　　Ranging the sky, one sees Milky Ways from afar. 　　七律《送瘟神》：坐地日行八万里，巡天遥看一千河。 　　即使由于中英文造句上追求力度和表现手法上的差异，他也力求译文句势的工整，以尽力传达原文的句势美与节奏感，如： 　　I see hills on hills all in red 　　And wood on wood in a deep dye… 　　《沁园春·长沙》：看万山红遍，层林尽染…… 　　Far and wide eagles cleave the blue; 　　Up and down fish in shallows glide; 　　鹰击长空，鱼翔浅底…… 　　hills on hills及wood on wood; far and wide 及up and down既符合英语语言习惯，又进一步加强了原文动词"击"和"翔"表达的力度。 　　在英语中使用倒装句要比汉语频繁得多，故许译本也不时见，些不赘述。 　　这里还要特别指出的是许教授在构思诗人唯一一首六言诗《给彭德怀同志》的译文时，更是另辟蹊径，别出心裁，巧妙引进了分行梯形排列的句式，将原诗的意与境传达得淋漓尽致，且看最后一问一答，译诗何等生动有力： 　　Who is there 　　wielding his sword 　　and rearing his horse? 　　It is none 　　but General Peng 　　of our mighty force. 　　不仅句式美(who is there + gerund; It is none but …)，用词也美(sword, horse, force)。Mighty一词加得尤其好，一行一顿，不断加强力度。非如此，原诗中"谁敢……""唯我……"常用句型就无法传达出来，就没有意境，没有力度。 　　此外杂言诗《八连颂》的翻译也是值得一提的，限于篇幅，只能让读者自己去鉴赏品味了。 　　一、 积极修辞求意美 　　前面我们已经说过，毛泽东的诗词最重要的一个特点是其意境美，而其意境是通过一系列修辞后法来完成的，这也是原作的风格的一部分。因此成功的译作必须成功地再现原作的风格，美国翻译家奈达(E. A. Nida )就说过： 　　"Translation consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent or the source language message, first in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style." 　　又说： 　　"Source texts also differ greatly in the excellence of style, Generally, an excellent style also means greater problems for the translator in doing justiee to the associative meaning." 　　好吧，那么下面我们就来看看许先生这位译坛大家在选词造句的基础上，最后是怎样来处理原诗的风格与修辞的。 　　经过研究，我觉得许先生的办法有三： 　　1、保持原有修辞格，进行对等翻译： 　　明喻对等直译：Green mountains like the tide; 　　The sunken sun blood-dyed.《忆秦哦·娄山关》苍山如海，残阳如血。 　　暗喻与夸张对等直译：From the earth comes the news of the Tiger o‘ erthrown, /In a sudden shower their tears fly down. 《蝶恋花·答李淑一》： 　　忽报人间曾伏虎，泪飞顿作倾盆雨。 　　2、保持原有修辞格，灵活变通翻译： 　　暗喻变明喻：Mountains lide silver serpents dancing, /Highlands like waxy elephants advancing… 　　山舞银蛇，原驰腊象…… 　　比喻转双关：Most Chinese daughters have desire so strong,/To face the powder and not to powder the face.七绝《为女民兵题照》：中华儿女多奇志，不爱红装爱武装。 　　3、省略或添加修辞格： 　　去典故：After thirty-one years,back in the ancient town, 　　I read your fine verse ‘midfalling blooms in late spring. 　　七律《和柳亚子先生》：三十一年还旧国，落花时节读华章。 　　中文典故转西方典故，加明喻：With our courage unspent pursue the foe o‘erthrown! Do not fish like the Herculean King for renown!七律《人民解放军占领南京》：宜将剩勇追穷寇，不可沽名学霸王。 　　综上所述许渊冲教授所译毛译东诗词相当隽永地保持了原作语言艺术的风采和修辞上的风格，这是其长期昌导翻译诗"三美"原则的最好实践，对于我们从事翻译工作的后辈人来说，是能从中获得很大启发和收益的。

　　《美国文学选读》由北京大学著名教授陶洁主编，参编人员均为著名高校知名学者。本书充分汲取国内外文学选读教材的编写特色，精心选取美国文学***具代表性的篇段，加以简明清晰的注解，使读者能够在轻松的阅读过程中掌握美国文学发展的脉络，梳理不同时期的名家名著。本书主要的特色与创新有：
