This text explains the physical and mathematical aspects of electrical power theory, applications, and control as used in agriculture, emphasizing safety and frequently citing the National Electrical Code. Although the text is not an instruction manual for electrical wiring practice, it will enable readers to understand and recognize good wiring practices. A working knowledge of algebra is expected, but the uses of trigonometry, vectors, and Boolean algebra are explained, and chapter problems are included. Bern is professor in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department at Iowa State University.
