Maitland, Professor of Chemistry at New York University, and long-time teacher of the organic chemistry course at Princeton, is joined by Fleming (Temple University) in this update to his excellent textbook, which is designed to be accessible to non-chemistry majors. In addition to the numerous illustrations, they include icons indicating that an animated 3D representation of the reaction can be viewed on the accompanying CD-ROM. Examples, exercises, and some interesting asides complement their coverage, and the last four chapters discuss special topics such as intramolecular reactions and neighboring group participation.
