A consultant to the plastics industry, Shah explains testing and failure analysis to readers who are not necessarily well versed in polymer chemistry and physics. He describes four major types of failure by plastic parts and the key reasons behind them, and offers a step-by-step procedure starting from the very basic and simple visual analysis to highly advanced analytical tests. Several actual case studies are included. The 1998 edition was titled Handbook of Plastics Testing Technology; there is no indication whether this was the first or second edition.
