Publisher Summary 1
The result of a pubic participation project supported by five European nations, this combination report and analysis details efforts to use new technologies to involve average citizens in urban planning and development in terms of land and water use, infrastructure, and aesthetics. The 12 papers describe the process of setting up geo-visualization support for participatory spatial planning, perspectives on citizen participation, efforts to raise awareness of opportunities to participate in Catalonia, development of a discussion panel in Poland, using 3D visualizations in Germany, refining the e-interaction factor, getting a virtual flight over the city of Barreiro, using time travel in Gronigen's Lake City, adopting innovative tools for pubic participation by the Flemish land agency, and reflections on lessons learned. The accompanying DVD contains additional information on the projects. Distributed in the US by Enfield. Annotation 漏2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
