Publisher Summary 1
For readers and scholars of Russian poetry, pan-Jewish poetic traditions, Soviet culture and history, Russian Jewish studies, and the general field of poetics and modernism--this treatise explores the work of poet Boris Slutsky (1919-1986). Grinberg (Russian and humanities, Reed College) brings the life and work of this major figure out from the shadows of scholarly neglect. He begins with introductory chapters devoted to mythology, life, hermeneutics, and translation before continuing with chapters on historiography, polemics, and intertexts. The conclusion is titled "The Reader in Perpetuity." The bibliography is extensive. Indexing is by names and by selected subjects and terms.
