Survey of paintings, sculptures, and folk art by 20th c. black artists living in the United States and the Caribbean whose works reflect African cultural traditions and iconography. Catalogue includes an introduction by David C. Driskell, an essay by the exhibition’s chief curator, Alvia J. Wardlaw, as well as essays by Edmund Barry Gaither, Regenia A. Perry, William Ferris, Ute Stebich, and Robert Farris Thompson.
