Presents 22 catalogue entries for libraries and cultural centers (includes 14 realized buildings and ten projects) designed 1924-1974 by Aalto for sites in Scandinavia, Germany and the United States. Introductory essays: "Asplund e Aalto: un dialogo di spazi = Asplund and Aalto: dialoguing spaces," by Gabriele Milelli; "L’architettura deve essere progettata per essere usata = Architecture has to be designed for use," by Esa Laaksonen; and "Dai paesaggi agli interni: le stagioni dell’opera architettonica di Alvar Aalto = From landscapes to interiors: the different periods of Alvar Aalto’s architectural work," by Vilhelm Helander. Also includes an analysis (by Teija Isohauta) of aspects of Aalto’s library designs.
