简介

Summary: Publisher Summary 1 The editors have selected 71 articles that provide an overview of the trends and issues of this field. The articles in volume one are grouped into four sections: classical and Marxian conceptions of capital, foundations of neoclassical theory, some Austrian and neo-Austrian contributions, and early neoclassical capital controversies. Among the authors whose articles appear in volume two are W.E.G. Salter, Joan Robinson, R.F. Kahn, Piero Sraffa, F.H. Hahn, and Paul A. Samuelson. The 24 articles of volume three are arranged under the themes of reswitching and capital reversing; assessments of Cambridge capital theory controversies; and capital, increasing returns, and endogenous growth. Bliss (international economics, U. of Oxford, UK) has provided a 17-page introduction titled a "personal overview" of capital theory. This is complimented by a longer (42-page) introduction by Avi J. Cohen (economics, York U., Canada) and G.C. Harcourt (emeritus, history of economic theory, U. of Cambridge, UK and U. of Adelaide, Australia). The articles are reproduced in facsimile. Each volume includes a name index; there is no subject index. Annotation 漏2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
