“剑桥哲学研究指针”是英国剑桥大学出版社20世纪90年代刊行的一套学术参考书，如原书编者所说的：“这套书的目的之一，乃是针对艰深而富有挑战性的哲学家著作，帮助读者打消畏难心理。”对于哲学有兴趣的非专业读者和学生，贴切此可获得最为权威、便利的有效指引，专家和深入研究者则由此可概览各种批判性诠释的最新进展。
三联书店以英文原版形式引进出版“剑桥哲学研究指针”，旨在便利国内读者和研究者，期望这套研究指南有助于我国读书界把握学术潮流，拓宽思想疆域。
希腊是西方哲学传统的根源所在，而所谓“前苏格拉底时期”的思想家，其丰富价值至今仍难以估价。《早期希望哲学》荟萃诸多名家文章，既讨论个别前苏格拉底哲学家的思想，也涉及当时众多的哲学流派，具体主题则包括理性神学、认识论、心理学、修辞术和相对主义、正义、诗学等等；并有一专章讨论当时的历史学者和医学家。书后附有详尽参考文献目录、主题索引、专名索引、检索查考非常便利。
