简介
本书力图把宏观修辞与微观修辞融为一体，将理论与实践紧密结合，使深奥、抽象变得通俗易懂。全书分修辞理论概说、词汇修辞、句子修辞、段落修辞、话语修辞、修辞格六大部分。修辞格又分相似修辞格、相关修辞格、相反(对)修辞格、强势修辞格、语音修辞格和其他修辞格，共45种71式。每一部分之后还设有思考题，供读者用于修辞实践。书中指出了语言中存在的三大主要错误；探究了33种不同词类和14种不同句型的不同修辞功能，尤其是-ing形式的词的特殊修辞功能；提出了修辞倒装与语法倒装的分界线，以及修辞倒装的种种功能；点出了修辞转换对提高英语教师的语言驾驭能力和英语学习者的语言表达能力具有巨大的潜能；阐释了一些鲜为人知的修辞格在许多地方，本书作者试图通过对比法来证明修辞的实用价值；而在有些地方，则只是“点”到为止，不多加分析，以便让读者自己去思考。
