简介
作者范俊军为暨南大学学报编审，语言学专家。本书为文件汇编，编译稿件形式。本书稿由我国语言学专家孙宏开教授推荐出版，由暨南大学资助出版。本书内容分两大部分，有中文翻译和英文原稿。主要内容是保护非物质文化遗产和促进文化表现形式多样性，特别强调了对濒危语言的保护问题。内容汇编了联合国教科文组织2004年庆祝国际母语日的总干事致辞，2003年3月保护濒危语言国际专家会议的总干事讲话和主题报告及特别专家组报告，2005年10月第33届会议的公约草案，2003年10月第32届会议的《保护非物质文化遗产公约》，2002年9月第三届文化部长圆桌会议的宣言，2001年11月第31届会议的《世界文化多样性宣言》等共10篇文件，后面附加了9篇文件的英文原稿。这部有关语言和文化的联合国教科文组织文件汇编，对全世界保护语言和文化多样性方面有着重要的指导意义。
