简介
Based on a Bank of England symposium (2000) and a survey of 37 central banks, this collection of eight papers offers an international perspective on the role of such banks in promoting financial stability. Brealey, a special adviser to the Bank, addresses the control of bank failure. In light of various bank crises, other papers examine the relationship of financial stability to monetary policy, competition, supervision, institutional structure, and regulation. Appends the symposium minutes and a list of participants. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
