简介
The SAGE Handbook of Social Psychology represents a new Handbook of social psychology for the new millennium and deserves to be an invaluable, landmark work in the field. It is a comprehensive, scholarly, and up-to-date survey of the field of social psychology in a single volume containing 23 chapters by leading researchers from around the world. In its approach, it should provide readers with a one-stop, authoritative guide to the major themes and debates in social psychology, both past and present, and quickly establish itself as one of the reference resources for many years to come. Edited by Michael A. Hogg and Joel Cooper, with Dominic Abrahms, Elliot Aronson, and Shelley Taylor acting as advisory editors, the handbook divides into five sections that reflect the scope of social psychology as a global scientific endeavor: history and nature of social psychology; individual processes, interpersonal processes; processes within groups, and intergroup processes and society. The chpaters are richly integrated with basic and applied research, each representing a thorough analytic review of the current issues and debates that govern activity today, and likely trends in the future, within social psychology, both specifically and broadly. The traditional emphasis on individual and interpersonal processes is balanced with full emphasis on the study of group processes and intergroup relationsk, and chapters included are on a diverse range of topics including language and social psycholgy, culture, self and justice. This volume will serve as indispensable reading for all graduate students, academics and researchers in the field of social psychology, as well as to many others in cognate disciplines who have a need or wish to find out more about this exciting and lively discipline. - Back cover.
