The author's name on the cover and title page reads Arnold Xiangze Jiang. (LC has catalogued according to the Wade Giles spelling rather than the Pinyin used in the book.) He holds a doctorate from the U. of Washington and is professor of history at Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) University in Guangdong (Canton).
