本书以语言学、教学法和翻译理论为基础,试图建立汉英口译教学的科学体系,阐明汉英口译的理论、原则、方法和技巧,本书适应21世纪培养高素质人才的需要,目的在于教会学生较强的口语表达能力,包括汉英译能力,会说,还要会译。汉英口译的培训,不单纯是传授知识和培训技能,而且为塑造高素质人才起到极大的作用。
本书编写遵循三个大纲:结构大纲(structural-syl-labus)、意念大纲(notional syllabus)和主题大纲(topical syllabus)。
结构大纲反映语言自身的规律,着重体现中国人说话时常用的词汇和常用的句型。
意念大纲反映语言功功能的项目。除汉语和英语共有的功能项目外,还有汉译英所需的功能技巧。
主题大纲反映语言表达的内容。教材表现人们最想谈论的热门话题。本书课文的主题涉及素质教育、终身教育、人才培训21世纪的学习、心理健康、肥胖与健康、互联网、旅游、汽车、环境保护、时装、茶文化、休闲、广告、品牌和企业文化等方面。本书体现了日新月异的时代特征,注意时效性,但也保持相对稳定,力争在若干年里内容不过时。
