Anyone who has read an Alice Munro story understands why she is considered one of the world's great writers. She has been compared to Chekhov and Flaubert, although she needs no comparison. Jonathan Franzen called her 么the best fiction writer now working in North America,枚 and her mastery of the short story form led one reviewer to comment that 么when reading her work it is difficult to remember why the novel was ever invented枚 (The Times).
