From School Library Journal
Grade2–3—Rockwell introduces 11 different types of clouds according totheir positions in the atmosphere. Besides the basics—fog, cirrus, stratus, and cumulus—she also provides information aboutcirrostratus, cirrocumulus, cumulonimbus, altostratus, altocumulus, nimbostratus, and stratocumulus. The author describes each type ofcloud formation, explains where it is found in the sky, and tellswhat kind of weather is associated with it. Attractivefolk-art-style paintings show the clouds and children playing orworking outside. The information is solid but too much is coveredfor this to be considered a "Stage 1" book. Marion Dane Bauer'sClouds (S & S, 2004) is a better source for this agelevel.—Sandra Welzenbach, Villarreal Elementary School, SanAntonio, TX
