Using theoretical perspectives on how space and social status work together in excluding certain people, she works from in-depth biographical interviews to determine the causes for displacement and the currents of social control that contribute to homelessness. The result is an interesting look at how social forces more or less purposefully cause homelessness, whether or not a transitional economy or society serve as excuses for it.
