简介
In this collection of 13 papers, editors Hulme (development studies, U. of Manchester) and Arun (international finance, U. of Central Lancashire) provide a set of readings intended to introduce students to the field of microfinance and to introduce practitioners to the vast amount of academic literature on the subject. Since the 1980s, microfinance has been a significant component in development and poverty reduction and economic regeneration programs throughout the world. Some topics include: the microfinance schism, supply and demand in microfinance: the case for a financial systems approach, microenterprise finance and conflicts between growth and poverty alleviation, credit issues, making microfinance more client-led, the perils and opportunities of microinsurance, regulating for development, and the future of microfinance.
