Initiated as a top priority of the national government in 1975 and published between 1986 and 1994, "HDC" was compiled by more than four hundred researchers and editors. It consists of twelve large volumes containing 18,314 double-columned pages of entries, plus individual volume indices and a separate index volume to all the single head characters in the entire dictionary.
